The North Cavern tour, for example, is a 75-minute tour that takes visitors through a half-mile of the largest and most spectacular show cavern in Texas. Along the way, there are several main rooms to pass through including the “Castle of the White Giants” and the “Hall of the Mountain King.” Flowstones, chandeliers, soda straws and many other formations surround guests as they make their way through this amazing underground world. The South Cavern adventure tour is a more-physically challenging tour, but definitely worth the extra effort as visitors retreat 230 feet below the surface to the “Fault Room,” home to a 14-foot soda-straw formation, the longest in North America. From there, explorers can climb, rappel and crawl through undeveloped rooms and passages in much the same way as the original discoverers of the Natural Bridge Caverns did. For those who prefer something less demanding, the Jaremy Room flashlight tour is pretty amazing. This area consists of a 120-foot-deep chamber filled with soda straws and many delicate formations. Explorers are given flashlights and invited to poke around in the cavern’s many nooks and crannies to see what they discover. If the underground proves a little too daunting, go above the ground on one of the largest outdoor climbing towers in Texas. Standing 40-feet high, this attraction features two different climbing surfaces to accommodate all levels of experience. Two 350-foot zip lines take climbers from the top to the bottom in seconds. Children really enjoy the Natural Bridge Mining Co. where they can sift sluice through screen trays and keep any “treasures” they find. With so much to explore and experience, the Natural Bridge Caverns are the perfect place for the adventure and thrill-seekers. Bring a picnic and spend the day.
